Special November Veterans Events & Activities


  • Saturday, November 4, a Special Vets Coffee at the UNCTV studios, 10 TW Alexander Dr. Research Triangle Park.  8:30 – 10:30 am.  RSVP to veterans@unctv.org
  • Friday, November 10 @ 11 am – Veterans Day Ceremony @ Hospice & Palliative CareCenter (FOLLOWED BY A LIGHT LUNCH provided by PDQ) 101 Hospice Lane, W-S.
  • Thursday, November 9 at Senior Services in Mocksville, 278 Meroney St, Mocksville. A free Veterans lunch 1:00 pm, or dinner 5:30 pm with entertainment.  Limited space, so RSVP ASAP 336 753-6230
  • Thursday, November 9, Vets Appreciation event at the Elkin National Guard armory, 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Veterans service providers will be present.  Food will be served.
  • Friday, November 10 @ 8:00 am High Point University.  Salute and Breakfast for Military Heroes.  RSVP at 336 841-4636
  • Friday, November 10 @ 8:00am. A FREE Veterans breakfast at the Billy Graham Library, 4330 Westmont Dr., Charlotte.  The guest speaker will be retired Brigadier General, USMC Jim Walker.  RSVP required at:  704 401-3263.
  • Friday, November 10.  The Wake Forest basketball home opener will be Military Appreciation Night.  Active military, Veterans and their families will be admitted free.  RSVP to bradleaa@wfu.edu   Veterans will be recognized during the game.
  • Saturday, November 11, Veterans Day Parade downtown Winston-Salem begins at 10:00 am for information call 336 766-8087 or email onebentskid@gmail.com 
  • Saturday, November 11, after the parade.  Open house & lunch at Harry Veterans Community Outreach Services, 897 Peters Creek Parkway.  336 725-3410
  • Saturday, November 11, Veterans Day Parade, Mooresville (special invitation to female Veterans to walk or ride in the parade) The parade is followed by a brief ceremony to honor the participants, a concert and a free lunch. Information:  704 663-0488
  • Saturday, November 11.  Starbucks. Free brewed coffee for Veterans and active military members and family members.
  • Sunday, November 12, Veterans Day Parade in High Point @ 3:00 pm
  • Wednesday, November 15, 3:00 – 8:00 pm.  Juggheads, Growlers & Pints will be hosting a Veterans/community get together to recognize Vets and raise money for Veteran programs at Hospice & Palliative Care Center.  4843 Country Club Rd.  Winston-Salem
  • Saturday, December 9 at Goodwill Industries, 2701 University Parkway, W-S.  9:00 am – 3:00 pm.  2017 Women Veterans Empowerment Symposium. Lunch provided.

  • Saturday morning, November 18, 10:00 am.  An invitation to Veterans to join first responders for a get together and light breakfast at Kelly Day’s private club, 708 N Nain St. Winston-Salem

 A very special fundraising event on Sunday night, November 12 (the day after Veterans Day).  It will be a WALK through the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park (before the Festival of Lights is open to the Public). It is a great way to kick off the holiday season with family and friends.  The real Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there for pictures.  We will have food trucks and activities for all ages. Tickets are:  Individual Adult-$20, 2 adult package-$35, Family pack-$40, Children 2-12 years old-$10.  To purchase tickets and for more information go to:  toasttanglewood.com  Proceeds from this event benefit the Veterans support programs at Hospice & Palliative CareCenter and many other non-profit organizations.  Join me there for the FUN!

  • NEXT WEDNESDAY MORNING-November 1, A special Vets Coffee about Veterans benefits.  The VA will be presenting the program that morning to provide information and answer questions about benefits.
  • December 6, (Year End Finale Vets Coffee)  Speaker, James M. Scott (from last year), speaking about his book on WWII submarine warfare.  We are honoring Marine Corps Veteran Rich Brenner by partnering with the Marine Corps League’s “Toys for Tots” program.  Please bring new, unwrapped toys, gifts and clothing for children to be given to local children as Christmas gifts.   Breakfast will be provided. Erinn Diaz (Letters from Home) will be there!

 Stokes County, King @ the Town & Country Restaurant:  2017 dates, 4th Thursdays

October 26 (the last Vets Coffee in King for 2017)  , No November coffee because of Thanksgiving

 Surry County, Mt Airy @ the Sagebrush Steakhouse:  Mondays – (4 times per year) November 20

 There will be no Veterans Coffees in December and January at the locations noted above except for the December 6 event at Richard Childress Racing in Welcome/Lexington.

Lexington, “Viet Now” meetings are on the last Monday of each month at the Goodwill Workforce Center, 719 West Center Street, Lexington.  From:  6:00 – 7:45 pm.

High Point- Veterans Coffee, First Thursdays, November 2, 8:30 – 10:00 am, at the

Salisbury- Thelma’s Frontier Coffee Shop.  Every Tuesday morning from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Thelma’s Restaurant in the West End Plaza shopping Center.

Mooresville- Richard’s Coffee Shop and Military Museum will be open every day except Sunday.  Thursdays has free coffee for Vets and Saturday is their musical extravaganza.

Cabarrus Veterans Coalition Get Together.  Every Tuesday morning from 8:30 – 11:00 am at Carm’s Café, 42 S. Union St. Concord
